Poor Thinking?

Where are the critical thinkers? Is there no one with enough courage to suggest that a statement referring to the constitutional rights of a group, and a statement about the wisdom of that group making a decision based on those rights, is not “being inconsistent, flip flopping, back tracking”, etc., as I have heard on the airwaves (talk shows, commentators (“professional gossips” I label them) and so called ‘news’ programs (full of interviews, personal analyses, comments and opinions, etc.)”

Do these individuals think so poorly, are they just being so partisan, are the ‘experts’ on the radio and television programs simply concerned with asking mischievous, provocative, designed to create controversy, questions for ratings? What’s going on?

Where are the critical thinkers.

Standards of evaluation should be applied evenly, yes? So the constitutionality of the victory mosque is not in question. The “wisdom” of it is. Ditto with the Pastor burning a bunch of “religion of peace” books. Constitutional: yes; appropriate: no. But if it’s not appropriate to burn Qurans, why? And why is it more appropriate to put up a victory mosque near ground zero? And who determines said appropriateness for the GZ mosque? The Messiah? You? Me? Who? This isn’t a question about critical thinking, as if it’s the end-all be-all human nervous system process. This is more a question about empathy; of understanding matters of appropriateness; of propriety. Most of those criticizing the victory mosque do not question the oh-so-peaceful Imam’s constitutional right to build on private property. We criticize the appropriateness of doing so, given his stated goal of building bridges with peoples of other faiths. This is NOT building bridges, anymore than calling a tail a leg and then saying that a dog has 5 legs. It is a slap in the face of people who suffered from 911, and then trying to put a happy face on it.
